September is here and I couldn’t be happier. I missed hot coffee and rainy days! There is a certain type of magic autumn has that summer can’t have. When it comes to fashion, more clothes mean more opportunities to show one’s style and personality and that, for me, is always a good thing.
My good friend, Gabi (aka my source of inspiration for this project), gave me the best fashion advice ever – when you’re looking for fashion inspiration, look around you and let yourself be inspired by nature. The most unique color combinations are seen in nature and autumn is a great season to be inspired by all those beautiful and playful color combinations and textures.
In this article I ignored trends, body shapes and other fashion tips and tricks, and I created some outfits being inspired only by autumn colors. That was a great imagination exercise, you should try it too! Sure, you can adapt these outfits to your body and you can create new ones but I highly recommend creating outfits based on the colors you see around you during this season. Take a walk in the park and pay attention to all the beautiful shades surrounding you. They are truly amazing right now and they can get you out of your comfort zone. Oh, and dare to try various combinations even though normally you wouldn’t think about combining certain colors. Nature can’t be wrong, trust me!
Look at those trees that still have green leaves and then create a simple outfit by combining the brown of the trunk with the dark green of the leaves. Add some black accents for a plus of style and your outfit will be perfect!
Plums are not only delicious, they are also extremely chic, or they can be if you find a lovely plum skirt. Add dark red, classic black and you’ve got yourself a deliciously chic outfit!
Plum and Navy Blue Autumn
Twilight can be spectacular, especially right before dusk. That lovely sky color combined with the color of the plums will make a great outfit for a fashionista!
Since we are on the twilight topic, here is another idea, incorporate more than two twilight shades into your outfit and enjoy the result! I absolutely love it!
Autumn leaves can create a great camel “carpet” over dark concrete streets. I absolutely love when nature wins the battle against concrete! You can transpose this into fashion by wearing a camel coat with dark jeans and beige & black accents!
Red can be found everywhere during this season. You know I love red more than any other color so if you want to combine it with other bold colors, go ahead! I decided to keep things simple and let red shine in this outfit.
Wearing orange can be quite intimidating. Only a few of us have the courage to wear light orange, but dark orange, dark orange is amazing and can be very stylish and uplifting!
You can see shades of brown everywhere? Good! Include them in your outfit! Add a bit of navy blue and just a touch of green and you can transform a rainy autumn day in a full of style experience!
Speaking about grey, did you watch the sky during rain? Don’t you love the grey shades? I most certainly do! But since I also love to have color in my outfits, I added a touch of the orange leaves and I was more than happy with the result!
I know Marsala is the color of 2015, but personally I prefer burgundy. Might be the old glam aspect of it or the classy feeling burgundy offers but I fell in love with burgundy a long time ago and I love to wear it during the cold season, especially during autumn.
Mustard Gold Autumn
This outfit looks like an autumn picture. It has the mustard leaves, the burgundy leaves and the dark blue sky. Should you ask for more? Add some gold in the picture and you’ll have the perfect look!
Yellow was obsessively combined with green a couple of years ago. I’m not crazy about that combination but I have to admit it is a good combination for summer. What about autumn, you might ask. How about adding dark brown, light brown and black to yellow? I think this is a winning combination!
This first outfit features a lovely animal print (literally) coat, a red skirt, an orange necklace and brown accessories (bag+boots). I love that coat! It is unique and chic and it incorporates some of my favorite autumn colors. Gotta love it!
The second outfit from the Autumn Prints category features a Mod Cloth dress that embodies the sweetness of the plums and the deepest sky shades you can see during autumn. To lighten up the outfit, add some beige accessories and accents.
This outfit is my favorite! I included so many colors here but the outfit looks classy and stylish. Told you nature knows what she is doing! Red-brown, dark red, brown, dark green and orange in one outfit? Why not? Don’t be scared to be creative!
I hope I inspired you with these 15 outfits and I also hope you’ll have the most amazing autumn! Stay tuned, I will come back with some other suggestions for a lovely autumn!
