When you have the basics in your wardrobe you will always have something to wear. Easier said than done, right? There is always that constant inner voice that tells us that we need to buy as many clothes as we can.
Shopping is fun, therapeutic and addictive, I get that, but do we really wear all the clothes we buy? Or we leave them in our closet, for ever without wearing them?
Sometimes I am an impulse shopper, but only if I find something that will really come in handy or something that I really need in my wardrobe. Usually I stick to my shopping list. Of course there are exceptions, of course I can fall in love with a dress, a skirt or a blouse but when this happens I really need that. By “need that” I don’t necessary mean “I don’t have this basic item that I need”, I mean “I need it because it looks amazing and I know that I’m in love with it”. You see, when I fall in love with a clothing article, I know I will wear it as much as I can.
I have a few articles in my wardrobe that I don’t wear. They are there because the idea of a closet organization scares me. But I will do a re-organization soon since I changed my style a little bit and I really need my organized closet back!
Now back to the clothing article that you can fall in love with. It’s ok to buy things that you love. It’s ok to be happy because you found an amazing dress. You sensed the “but”, right? BUT only if you are for real happy and only if you know for sure that you will wear that article. Don’t buy something that you don’t need or you don’t like only because you shop with your friend who buys stuff. Or because you’re depressed. Or because you didn’t find what you wanted in the first place, so you decided to buy something randomly.
The basics are the best because you can create many outfits with them. I showed you how a simple white shirt can help you in different occasions. Now it’s time to show you how to create 7 outfits with only 6 clothing articles and some accessories.
- A colorful dress – I chose orange, but any color will do the trick
- A black blazer
- An A-line skirt

- A navy cardigan
- Black stilettos
- Beige Flats
- Brown bag
- Red bag
- Black belt
- A scarf
- Jewelry (I chose a necklace but I’m sure you have something that you really like at home)
